Backing the truck up
A reference to the figurative or literal vehicle that will be delivering proceeds (money) from a transaction. When the money truck hits us or arrives at our door, it means the transaction has closed and the money has arrived. Often the money truck is backing up but is not ready to unload, which can be frustrating. In most deals, the money truck backs up several times before it finally arrives (hitting us). Many businesspeople are superstitious about discussing it until the money is actually in hand.
